Norfolk, Virginia. “Teachers and students who have gone through a tough year were delighted when TeachKind – PETA’s humane education arm – delivered a special delivery of delicious non-dairy products. beautiful cream to Norway Primary School this morning. Vegan snacks appeared a week later in Dairy Month, which TeachKind hopes to counter with wholesome, gracious and sustainable options.
Photos of the draw are available here.
“Drinking milk intended for calves is as weird and unnecessary as drinking milk for puppies,” says Martha Holmberg, senior director of PETA youth programs. “With TeachKind’s vegan ice cream delivery, students can enjoy creamy, soothing sweets. as well as let the animals stay with their mothers – a win-win situation. “
Dairy cows are artificially inseminated and their calves are taken from them shortly after birth so that their milk can be sold and consumed by humans. Mother cows and their young are ultimately slaughtered for food. Every person who goes vegan saves about 200 animals each year; reduces their risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and obesity; and significantly reduces their carbon footprint.
TeachKind – whose motto, among other things, is that “animals are not ours to abuse them in any way” – opposes racism, a worldview based on human superiority. For more information please visit TeachKind.org or subscribe to the group on Instagram or Facebook…
